Senior Planner/Planning Manager x 2

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy Planning department we are looking for 2 new Senior Planners or Planning Managers to join our Planning team, this is a very hands-on role, which will enable you to be responsible for completing the planning process from site inception to receipt of planning permissions and beyond.

You will be dealing with anything from a site of 30 to 200 units and dealing with any future-land promotion initiatives and no two days ever being the same. Reporting into the Land and Planning Director the role will suit someone who has a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience either working as a Planner with a Planning Consultancy, Local Authority or Residential Developer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile Planning applications, conditions, and appeal documentation for submission to Local Planning Authorities, including research as necessary on previous planning applications of sites.
  • Manage the submission of planning applications to Local Planning Authorities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Attend Planning Committee Meetings and Public Consultation Meetings to represent Foreman Homes.
  • Organise and maintain office work systems, including ensuring that computer records are accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain an up-to-date record of Local Planning Authorities’ Planning policies and Local Plan Reviews for internal reference.
  • Monitoring and reviewing local planning policy. Including strategies which take account of transport, the local economy, jobs, green infrastructure, renewable energy, climate change and the historic environment.
  • Conducting appropriate research to inform planning applications.
  • Negotiate, obtain quotations from, and instruct external engineers and other consultants and assist in the evaluation of their use by the Group.
  • Collate and maintain evidence from public consultation meetings where the planning process requires it.

Experience

  • Degree in urban planning, geography, or a related field.
  • A Minimum of 5 years’ experience of working as a Planner, or higher
  • Experience of addressing the general public as well as council officers and committee members in a public forum.
  • Experience of planning processes, and regulations in relation to planning approval.
  • Effective communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Works collaboratively with a diverse range of people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.

  • Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, 37.5 hours
